  1. Up Up Up

Very recently unearthed live recordings of the Guojons with Brad Koberman have been discovered. Brad was a brilliant violinist, guitarist, and mandolin player whose bright light shone as few others' could. Here he is captured along with the Guojons playing live at the Webster Grill in Old Orchard in Webster Groves, MO circa 1984.

The Guojons consisted of:
Bob Breidenbach...10 string Dobro ( which I believe he invented )
Brad Koberman...Fiddle and Mandolin
Mike Bruce...Stand-up Bass Fiddle
John Jump...Worthington acoustic Guitar
vocals...Bob Breidenbach, John Jump, Brad Koberman

Up, Up, Up is a "Dan Hicks and His Hotlicks" number.

A Guojon is a Cajun word for Flathead Catfish. When Bob Breidenbach was growing up his relatives in southern Illinois were avid trotliners and fishermen. They often referred to Flatheads as... Guojons. Of course, since Bob taught me time-trusted methods of trotlining and we were always trying to catch the wily Guojon when we would wade in lines, it was only natural to name a band in honor of the King of the Catfish...Guojons.
